House of Reps Aspirant seeks more women participation in politics

Trust Africa News, By Ayomide Otitoju

Fatima Mohammed, the frontline campaigner of former PDP Presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar in the coming 2023 elections and a House of Reps aspirant in Lagos state, has called on women to participate actively in politics as change cannot be actively implemented without women’s political participation. She said the positive change they seek can only be achieved with effort and empowerment.

She said this at the 2022 International Women’s Day celebration held in Lagos where she calls on women to celebrate themselves.

Mohammed said women must empower themselves if their achievements and contributions are to be visible and to make this happen, she said they are looking on to how to sustain women by hosting, empowering, and educating 600 women.

She said, ‘’What I believe is still one of the most important pieces of unfinished business in human history, part of the society, as well as governance, thus it is necessary that women achievements and contributions are visible but before this can happen, their empowerment comes first, which is why this year we will be looking more on to how to sustain our women by hosting, empowering, and educating 600 women’’.

She appreciated the Ooni of Ife, His Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi for sending his cultural ambassador, Oloye Morounranti Ashabi to the event.

‘’I want to specially thank our Royal father, His Majesty Alayeluwa Arole, Oodua Olofin  Adimula  Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja the Second) Ooni of ife, for granting us the honour of having the Asoju Asa ile Oodua, our own cultural Ambassador, Oloye Morounranti Ashabi at this event. She is here to enlighten us about our cultural heritage as women. For this, we are very grateful to Kabiyesi.

‘’Representing Heritage bank here, is Mrs. Folashade Alonge. She is the divisional head, corporate banking, a relationship manager extraordinaire who also loves to be called a mentor, a woman who loves adding value, and she is going to impart us positively today.

‘’Lastly as female politicians, we realized that our roles have been downplayed. We have been relegated to the back. This is why it is rare privilege to have in our midst one of Lagos finest mobilizers, who has dared to challenge the status quo, and the role of women in leadership positions, the central coordinator of the biggest support group in Lagos, Lady Funke ijaiye-Kunle from Lagos4Lagos who will teach our women how to flourish and take pride in our Lagos once again’’.
