Artisans escape unhurt as  building under construction cave in

A building  under construction around the Iyana Love axis of Onikolobo, Abeokuta the Ogun state capital experienced a partial collapse at around 1:00pm in the Purple beige news learnt that the reinforced concrete  at the entrance collapsed with one worker sustaining injury.

The building collapsed while artisans were working on the decorative designs to the supporting columns, chiselling the columns to remove and replace the old design to a new one.

The Chairman of the Building Collapse Prevention Guild  Ogun State Chapter, Bldr. Adedayo Ogunsola and some BCPG members paid a visit to the event centre immediately after the collapse. Poor construction work was identified as a major cause of the collapse.

While one victim escaped unhurt, another was not so lucky as he was trapped under the rubble. Help later came his way as he was successfully rescued by a team of first responders, including the Ogun State Building Production Management Authority (OGBPMA), Ogun State Physical Development and Planning Authority (OGPDPA), Ogun State Ambulance Service,  Ogun State Fire Service, Ogun State chapter of the Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG), Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Authority (TRACE) and members of the public.

The building was later sealed off by OGBPMA to ensure public safety while necessary investigations will be carried out on the building.
