Championship promotion hopefuls Southampton have reportedly named their asking price for Nigeria international Paul Onuachu.
The lanky striker is expected back in Trabzon on Friday after representing the Super Eagles at the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Turkish newspaper Karadeniz Gazetesi, Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan asked Southampton how much it will be required to sign Onuachu on a permanent basis and
he was quoted a fee of 12 million euros (approximately N19.5 billion in Nigerian currency) including bonuses.
The Saints signed the FC Ebedei product from Racing Genk in January 2023 in exchange for 18 million euros but he struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League in the
second half of last season.
Seeking game time and in a top-flight league, Onuachu joined Trabzonspor on loan in the summer transfer window and he has gotten his mojo back with twelve goal involvements (9
goals, 3 assists) in fifteen appearances in the Super Lig.
Logically, Southampton will delve into the market for a new striker if they are promoted to the Premier League at the end of the current season, which would throw the future of
the Nigeria at the St Mary’s Stadium into question.
Trabzonspor want to bring down Onuachu’s asking price from 12 million euros to 10 million euros.
