Russian Strikes Kill Three in Southern Ukraine, Including Odesa

Russian strikes killed three people in southern Ukraine, including at the Black Sea port of Odesa, authorities reported on Wednesday.

Russia has been conducting nightly attacks on cities across Ukraine since its invasion began in February 2022.

“The aggressor targeted port infrastructure in the Odesa region. Unfortunately, two people were killed: a security guard and a truck driver,” said Odesa governor Oleg Kiper.

The exact cause of the deaths, whether direct hits or falling debris from destroyed missiles, remains unclear. Southern defense forces reported that Russia launched a ballistic missile and four guided missiles at the southern port, but three enemy Kh-59/Kh-69 missiles were intercepted.

In a separate incident, a 62-year-old man was killed in Russian shelling on the southern city of Nikopol. The Ukrainian air force confirmed that 14 out of 20 drones launched over Ukraine were destroyed.

This news follows a rare daytime attack on the Ukrainian capital two days prior, which resulted in 34 fatalities, according to an updated toll from Kyiv’s military administration.
