In the aftermath of Nigeria’s loss in the African Cup of Nations final, veteran defender Kenneth Omeruo has reaffirmed his commitment to the national team, dispelling any rumors
of retirement. Despite the bitter disappointment of missing out on the AFCON title, Omeruo remains steadfast in his dedication to representing his country.
The CB, who played a significant role in the tournament with five appearances, was on the bench in Nigeria’s defeat to Cote D’Ivoire.
Despite being one of the longest-serving members of the squad, the defender finds himself behind Semi Ajayi, Troost-Ekong, and Calvin Bassey in the team’s pecking order.
Addressing Nigerian reporters upon the team’s return to Abuja, Omeruo addressed speculations about his future in international football.
“My focus now is going back, continue playing regularly for my club and be available if called upon,” he said.
