The National Association of Trade Union Veterans (NATUV) gratefully sends her warmest greetings to the entire leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the generality of Nigerian Workers and the union at large as we celebrate this season of the Yuletide and ushering all into the New Year 2022.
We also salute the courage and congratulate the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the entire Nigerian workers for their perseverance and continuous struggle for a better society.
The dream of our founding fathers of the Nigerian State, and Trade Unions have remained elusive.
The Year 2021 has witnessed a turbulent period of extreme poverty, lack of economic and political leadership in the Nigerian nation cumulating into lack of security and economic down turn.
We equally observe that, the neglect of the Federal Government to the plight of the Nigeria people and the elderly is at breaking point.
Furthermore, governance has been at its lowest ebb from military interregnum till date and the resilience of the Nigerian people to ensuring a nation of peace and togetherness cannot be overemphasised and the Federal Government should not take the people for a ride.
In this vein, we hereby call upon the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) as vanguard of the people to be pro-active to ensuring the sustainable growth of the country.
This will in a way engage the Federal Government on various issues that bothers the workers and the people in general.
Also, our attention has been drawn to the decision of the Federal Government to increase the prices of petroleum products which will affect the standard of living of the people particularly the elderly.
We, therefore, call on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigerian workers to stand up against the draconian economic policy as Nigerians are looking up to the Labour Movement for leadership.
