Huthi Drone Breaches Israeli Air Defence, Hits Tel Aviv Building

TEL AVIV – In a significant breach of Israel’s highly regarded air defense system, a drone claimed by Yemen’s Huthi rebels struck a building near a US embassy annex in Tel Aviv on Friday, resulting in the death of one person.

The Iran-backed Huthi movement’s spokesman, Yahya Saree, announced on social media that the attack was carried out using a new drone called ‘Yafa’, which is designed to evade interception systems.

An Israeli military official confirmed that a “very big” drone was used in the attack on Israel’s commercial hub, attributing the failure to intercept the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to “human error.”

The Huthis have launched numerous drone and missile attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since November, claiming these actions as acts of solidarity with Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
