BREAKING: Kogi Chief Judge Urges Law Students on Integrity

Lokoja, Kogi State – The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi, has urged Law School students to uphold a high degree of integrity if they aspire to excel in the legal profession. Justice Majebi conveyed this advice during a farewell session at the judiciary headquarters in Lokoja on Monday, marking the conclusion of the students’ five-week compulsory court attachment program.

Accompanied by other judges to whose courts the students were assigned, Justice Majebi emphasized the importance of professional ethics, proper attire, and societal decorum. He noted that society honors professionals who adhere to their profession’s principles, particularly lawyers.

Justice Abdul Awulu commended the students for their enthusiasm and willingness to grasp the intricacies of legal proceedings during his address. Echoing similar sentiments, Hon. Justice Angelina Salihu highlighted the ethical challenges lawyers face daily and stressed the significance of factual accuracy and ethical behavior in court. “I must commend you students for your approach to legal arguments and case management,” she said.

Justice Estu Umar underscored the role of character in the legal profession, emphasizing that integrity and diligence are the cornerstones of a successful legal career.

The Chief Registrar of the Court, Jubril Ibrahim, remarked that the attachment program had effectively prepared the students for the demands of legal practice. He expressed gratitude to the judges for sharing their wealth of experience and knowledge, which the students promised to apply in their future legal careers.

The program concluded with Nigerian Law School students from various campuses, including Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Yola, gathering in Lokoja to celebrate the end of their externship. The court attachment program is a crucial component of their legal education, providing hands-on experience in the judiciary before they proceed to law chambers for further training.
